Officer, Trenton, New Jersey, c. 1920-30.

These are two photographs in matching folders from the studio of William Carlton Roof, Trenton, New Jersey. They show the same officer, but at different times. In the later photo, the subject appears older, has been promoted to general, and has more medals. I presume the gentleman to be a member of the New Jersey National Guard, but I have no proof other than presumed residence in Trenton. It is possible that the studio did not make the originals of these photos, but rather copied them. The general appearance and style reminds me of the 1930s or 40s. Officers could wear these blue full dress uniforms from 1902 into the 1930s. The star on the cuff denotes assignment to the general staff.
